Ritual II Embrace the Darkness is a collective experience, a sound and emotional journey integrating live music, vocal and electronic sound experimentation, performance and video art.
The core theme is the struggle of opposites, explored through the relationship between sound and nature and reinterpreted with the semiotics of the volcano, a polysemantic creature embodying the energy of fire (magma, lava), air (gas, smoke, ash), water (steam, fog) and earth.
The work contains a series of explorations – carried out on Stromboli Island – that evoke the volcano in various ways.
Its voice – generating both vital and destructive power – is present in the sound fabric, thanks to a series of recordings taken on the island. Images and videos shot by Giulio Di Mauro portray the atmosphere, and some sound objects retrieved from Silvia Levenson’s glassworks are transformed and redefined into a suggestion of strength and fragility.

Bio

Stefania Alos Pedretti, aka ALOS (Vigevano, 1976), lived in Berlin from September 2006 to June 2011, then moved to Ravenna, where she still resides.
A musician, performer and artist active since 1998, she is a member of Alos and OvO and the historic Allun.
In 2003, she inaugurated the Alos project, in which live music is the central element, reinterpreted in each performance from a different performative key to fit the object of investigation. Her work transcends the boundaries between the performing arts, integrating experimental music, performance, improvisation, figurative art and installation.
