Ritual II Embrace the Darkness, is a collective experience, a sound and emotional journey integrating live music, vocal and electronic sound experimentation, performance and video art.
Embrace the Darkness was born from the encounter between Alos and the island of Stromboli. The island that presents itself to the artist at first glance is a burnt, black triangle, a consequence of the great man-made fire that has recently ravaged the island – and it is in this landscape that Alos moves to gather the material for his work, which becomes at the same time a testimony to a violated nature. During the residency, the voices and traces of the caves, the volcano, the land and the sea are collected, all materials that will form the structure of Embrace the Darkness.
Embrace The Darkness is in fact imagined as a device/ritual capable of transporting the spectator to another time and place, evoking in the live performance the presence of the volcano, understood as a polysemantic creature that incorporates the energies of fire (magma, lava) air (gas, smoke, ash), water (water vapour, fog) and earth – thanks to a sound fabric that incorporates recordings made at Stromboli, and a visual apparatus that re-elaborates videos and photos by Di Mauro to convey the atmosphere of the island. The apparatus is completed by a number of sound objects, recovered from the glass works of artist Silvia Levenson, transformed and redefined into a suggestion of strength and fragility.

Stefania Alos Pedretti aka ALOS (Vigevano, 1976) From September 2006 to June 2011 she lived in Berlin, then moved to Ravenna, where she still resides.
A musician, performer and artist active since 1998, she is a member of Alos and OvO and the historic Allun.
In 2003 she inaugurated the Alos project, in which live music is the central element, reinterpreted in each performance from a different performative key and imagined to measure the object of investigation.
