Supernova moves to the hills of San Giovanni in Marignano, to CASA MOTUS, for a “late breakfast” curated by Ivan Fantini, conceived as a participatory and solidarity-based gathering through bartering.

This will be a moment of conviviality and informal exchange, where we will discuss the acronym we have created in relation to the word CASA, namely Community-based Artistic Shelter Alliance, to imagine a utopian alliance of artist houses in Italy, Europe, and beyond the Mediterranean as a form of resistance and an alternative to the performance market and residency systems, which are increasingly subjected to extractive and commercial dynamics.

Together with Daniela Nicolò and Enrico Casagrande, speakers will include the artist Cedric Mizero, who runs the artist house ikinyugunyugu in Rwanda, and the Palestinian artist biishoss, who curates Kurkum Studio, a house/studio in Bethlehem. The conversation is open to participants and curators of other “Shelters” for artists across the country, which are magically proliferating.

Casa Motus is the beating heart of a new path that roots even more deeply the work of the Cultural Association, founded in 1991 by Daniela Nicolò and Enrico Casagrande, in the Rimini area.

After decades of activity between theatrical research and international nomadism, with Casa Motus, Daniela and Enrico—who lived there for more than thirty years—make a courageous choice and a gesture of strong openness toward the local territory, deciding to transform a private property into a common good, an open and shared space, recognizing in the land, its history, and the local community living and active elements of their future poetics.

This place carries forward the same experimental drive and the same urgency to connect art and reality that has marked their entire artistic journey. It is not only a place for residency and creation, but an ecosystem: a space dedicated to the permeability between performing arts, feminist ecologies, and critical thought; a crossroads between a rural past and future imaginaries.
