In 2024, Industria Indipendente began writing a collection of writings, objects, and performances on the literary character of Quixote (Don Quixote). The first movement is this film in which writing and imaginative vision are at the center of the viewer’s experience.
Two characters, both existing and at the same time fantastic: Don Quixote and Kathy Acker (writer, radical icon, and magnificent figure of postmodern experimentation) become the sources and figures to tell the story of writing and its transformative power, immersed in the fiction of the story of an eclipse that splits the sky, ready to put everything to sleep except them.

Bio

Industria Indipendente is a Rome-based collective of performative and visual arts founded by Erika Z. Galli and Martina Ruggeri. Their practice is rooted in language understood as an expanded field: a writing that migrates onto bodies, into environments, and across surfaces, becoming action, performativity, and lived experience. Through sound, voice, light, and atmosphere, their work fluidifies fixed forms and dissolves the boundaries between self and others, between here and elsewhere. At the center of their research lies the convergence of perspectives: a process of mutual recognition and contamination that opens up new expressive possibilities. Their works take shape as collective constellations. Through different scales and formats, they constantly question the notions of “unproductive” time, the construction of alternative and fictional worlds, and the continuous reconfiguration of individual and collective identities, in which new communities, alliances, and forms of kinship can emerge.
