Lieve, indicibile

20192026

a project by and with Rossella Guidotti
in collaboration with Adele Di Bella
texts by Mezzopalco, Guidotti
set and lighting design by Theo Longuemare
sound design by Lemmo

A silent reflection takes shape aboard the carriage of a train that cuts through the bowels of a city, evoked by voices, noises, announcements, dense like the roots of a forest.

And yet, the train on which the journey unfolds no longer makes stops: it moves on, advances, and nothing more. Those on board allow themselves to be carried along, more or less aware of their condition as passengers, while from above the recorded voice of the Train-System marks out the grotesque conditions of the ride. A nameless girl, on a day entirely like any other, takes part in the daily transfer of a distracted, absent humanity, and inwardly stitches a dialogue with these solitudes—foreign, yet in close contact. It is a journey inhabited by the shadows of a stalled humanity, confronted with a hallucinatory and terrible present, a contracted future, a sense of impotence that sickens and monstrifies.

What is the outcome of violence? What forms does it take?
Can one bear witness to it without being affected by it?
Can one suffer it without, in turn, enacting it?
Can fury be tamed?
And for how long?

Bio

Guidotti / Mezzopalco / Longuemare

Rossella Guidotti, actress, focuses primarily on live performance art. Alongside spoken theatre, she weaves together the study of contemporary dance and improvisation with circus arts, with a particular focus on dynamic trapeze. She takes part in the research of artistic collectives that guide her interest toward the exploration of multiple, dialoguing scenic languages. Over the years she has collaborated with numerous companies and artists, including Teatro Valdoca, Eugenio Allegri, César Brie, Eco di Fondo, Luca Chieregato, and Usine Baug.
She is currently a member of the association Il Casale, with which she organizes and manages artistic workshops and events, including La Tre Giorni, a rural festival of theatre and performing arts.

Mezzopalco is an artistic ensemble composed solely of voices and is part of the Zoopalco Collective. Their research lies in poetry and voice, centered on storytelling and orality, at the intersection with singing, spoken word, vocal techniques, and the live processing of the voice through digital and analog tools. They won the Premio Dubito 2018 with the performance IMPRE, and the Forever Young competition with ANSE, created with Usine Baug and produced by La Corte Ospitale.

Theo Longuemare, technician and lighting designer, has explored and deepened the impact of light on the world and on the stage since childhood. He collaborates with various companies (including Berti, MOTUS, Borriello, and El Grito), dedicating his work to the research of lighting states that can speak directly to the gaze, and to shifting qualities of light, calibrated to specific imaginaries and scenic practices.
