schau (show, exhibition, spectacle) is the first derivation of the umlaut project and places a diaeresis on the bow, the act of bending to someone, a gesture that marks the beginning and end of a moment, welcoming and farewell, thanks and forgiveness, the plea for grace and surrender to condemnation.

This theatre is a morgue.

stellen (to do/make/place) is the second article of umlaut. The body, language, and writing of schau fray, continuing to multiply. The stage becomes the object of the scene, shifting the plane of representation. stellen is the wound of schau.

Bio

Vincent Giampino, choreographer and performer, trained in Italy, Germany, and the Netherlands. His choreographic practice revolves around the concept of “choreographic poverty”, understood as a tension towards a light bodily object, stupidly abandoned to simplicity, which loses its perspectival centrality by withdrawing from the need for self-display. Among his recent choreographic creations: UMLAUT and its derivations SCHAU, STELLEN, and the study project Intercity Notte. He has collaborated with artists, choreographers, musicians including Greta Francolini, Cristina Kristal Rizzo, Marco Mazzoni, Edoardo Ciaralli, Lady Maru, and continues his research on the body and gesture as political, aesthetic, and symbolic matter.
