There are two types of horror.
Right-wing horror and left-wing horror.
In right-wing horror, the enemy is out there.
In left-wing horror,
the enemy is here, among us, inside us.
Interview with JOHN CARPENTER
This year, Supernova has chosen to focus on works that explore the dark side of reality—its shadows and specters—and horror as a space to confront further questions about an increasingly fragile and frightening present. We aim to activate a perspective that makes this darkness vibrate in its most luminous aspects, embracing and listening to ghosts, making room for the strange and the unsettling (to borrow Mark Fisher’s words).
This talk will investigate how the language of a codified genre reverberates in artistic works—both cinematic and theatrical/performative—through fears, monstrous creatures, and eerie atmospheres
